Applying the BES at Papatoetoe Intermediate

Brian Hincho is principal at Papatoetoe Intermediate. At the start of 2010 senior staff at the school began trialling a change in their management structure. The trial was based on the research findings in School Leadership and Student Outcomes: Identifying what works and why: BES Iteration. The key change that they made was to disestablish the roles of the deputy principals, and to create a Leading Learners team. Here Brian tells the story of the thinking behind the change.
