The tools included in the handbook are for:

  • assessing and improving participants’ readiness
  • engaging stakeholders
  • planning “early wins”
  • minimizing resistance
  • using collaborative planning methods
  • developing ways to bring initiatives to scale and sustain them over time.

The handbook indicates where each tool fits in the overall change process.

The handbook was first published in 2009. This revised version includes more tools and stories from school leaders who are using the tools.

It is published by the Wallace Foundation in the USA, an organisation with a strong focus on educational leadership.
