The Literacy and Numeracy Strategy
Information about the New Zealand Government's Literacy Taskforce and the Literacy Leadership programme, a national professional development programme in New Zealand schools. The Numeracy Projects section backgrounds the philosophy behind the Ministry of Education's Numeracy Development Projects. It includes summaries of the numeracy projects that are currently available to help teachers develop effective numeracy practice, and brief outlines of the exploratory studies and pilot projects that led to these numeracy projects.

This website focuses on the teaching and learning of mathematics in New Zealand schools. Units of work and lesson plans take a problem solving approach and are contained in sections based on the statistics, measurement, algebra and geometry strands of the NZ maths curriculum. These cover level 1-4 or 5 and a general problem solving section provides lessons covering level 1-6, with copymasters of problems in both English and Maori. Background notes and guidelines for teachers are included with units of work.

The Diagnostic Interview
This Numeracy Project Assessment (NumPA) material in pdf format is a guide for primary teachers performing individual diagnostic interviews with students. The diagnostic tool is aligned with the Number Framework. It details knowledge and mental strategy questions and associated guidance.
