This research report investigates how Year 9 and 10 Māori student achievement in mainstream schools could be improved. It includes an effective teaching profile that provided the basis of a professional development implementation. The profile was developed on the basis of suggestions made by Māori students as well as parents, teachers, principals and international literature.
asTTle: Assessment Tools for Teaching and Learning – What is asTTle?
asTTle refers to Assessment Tools for Teaching and Learning, He Pūnaha Aromatawai mō te Whakaako me te Ako. An educational resource for assessing students level of achievement in literacy and numeracy (in both English and Māori). asTTle provides teachers, students, and parents with information about a student's level of achievement, relative to the curriculum achievement outcomes, for levels 2 to 6 and national norms of performance for students in years 4 to 12.
