Principal Profile: Shaun Stevenson
I have a passion for teaching and for working with beginning teachers and I have a strong drive to become a principal.
I taught at Ahipara School for 5 years. I think I was called 'a cocky young bloke' in the beginning, because I came in and I said, "I want your job" to the principal. Four years later I was acting principal for 6 months at that school. I think I was fortunate, as Ken Clark and his wife Joan gave me a great grounding in terms of leadership at Ahipara.
I moved on to Kaitaia Intermediate where I'm enjoying the role that I have at the moment.
Living in Ahipara and at the edge of Ninety Mile Beach, I go fishing, scuba diving and bike riding when I have the time in that beautiful environment.
