Report released on Teacher Professional Development Languages (TPDL)
24 May 2010
This recently released report aimed to inform the Ministry of Education about Teacher Professional Development Languages (TPDL).
The purpose of TLPD was to build capacity in teachers of language working across years 7 to 10. This initiative had three components: opportunities for teachers to gain a language qualification, an opportunity to study second language acquisition methodology and in-school facilitation and support. Evaluation findings show the languages learning component of the programme had a positive impact on the language teaching proficiency of most teachers.
