A new series of reports on the Ministry of Education’s Education Counts website examine Pasifika parents' relationships with schools and teachers, regarding their children's learning, progress and achievement.
The reports document a two-year project in three primary schools. As part of the project the project team developed a Talanoa Ako Cycle to support teachers, students and parents to work together. 'Talanoa ako' is 'talking together about education'.
The cycle sets out key actions to help leaders, parents and families, teachers, and students anticipate and understand the steps they need to take, and when, throughout the school year. The team also developed four tools to help schools to implement the Talanoa Ako Cycle.
