2012 school planning and reporting requirements
31 October 2011
The Secretary for Education has advised boards and school leaders of her expectation for 2012 annual charter updates to be sent to the Ministry by 1 February 2012.
The annual report due date remains the same at 31 May 2012.
As the charter is a school’s key planning document, it is important for it to be in place before the start of the school year. It sets a clear direction and a strong sense of purpose for everyone in the school or kura to work towards, over the year.
The charter provides valuable information for parents, families, whānau and the community. The Ministry also uses the information to identify the kinds of support a school or kura needs to achieve its goals for accelerating student progress and achievement.
The Ministry has a number of resources available during term 4 to support boards and school leaders in the planning and reporting process.
