Overview
This Australian Principals’ Association’s Professional Development Council (APAPDC) publication contains 20 engaging articles on school leadership. It aims to provide school leaders and those interested in quality leadership with both a snapshot of the issues and concerns that have emerged from across Australia, and a resource for professional learning. It has material that will be of interest to current, aspiring, and middle school leaders.
The first part consists of articles on leadership issues by a range of educational and other thinkers. The collection of articles comes from people working in schools, the media, education policy, universities, and the community.
The second part explores the major contemporary leadership challenges for school principals, such as accountability, equity, and articulating and assessing professional standards. It also provides information about the support that is available for experienced, new, and aspiring principals.

Recommended reading for an overview is article 1, p. 7 "Leaders Lead – into the 21st Century" by Susan Boucher. The reference lists of readings and websites in Part 2, "Leaders Lead" articles, and reference are particularly useful.
